Molly Scott was on the first show. Melvina Reynolds was a regular, as was Buffy St. Marie. Michael Cooney was on at least one of the shows in the first season, at least he tells a story about them wanting him to modify the lyrics of T for Texas". Apparently the line "who made a wreck of me" wasn't quite what they had in mind.

Dave Mallett's The Garden Song was featured once.It was very funny to see hear vegetables singing in harmony.

I remember Pete Seeger singing Buffalo Gals or "Sesame Street Gals" on the show, and I didn't watch the show much. It must have been the 1st season or 2, 39 or 40 years ago.

I think there were a few folk and country acts on The Muppet Show, produced by ATV in the uk in the late 1970s using Jim Henson's puppets. Although the show was made in the uk most of the guest stars would be known in the usa as well, so the programme could be sold to tv companies there.

I once recorded the sound track for a Sesame street cartoon. It was a version of Old MacDonald Had A Farm called Young MacDonald Went To Town.
The session was with Jack Baker from the Fretted Instruments School in New York playing banjo and me singing and playing guitar.

I have many mo0re vague memories of the Muppets than I do of Sesame Street, mainly because when I watched it in its early years I was too young to appreciate folk music.

Normally with these anniversaries they do some kind of celebration programme plundering the archives. One on Sesame Street could be pretty good fun.
