Well, there is, of course, the "Vicar of Bray" about the cleric who changed his religious persuasion depending on which way the wind was blowing. In my collection, A Bonnie Bunch of Roses there's a ballad called "The Wooden Leg'd Parson." I found it on an old broadside and John Roberts of Roberts & Barrand found an old tune for it.
