Subject: RE: Does anyone know these Peter Rabbit songs? From: giles earle Date: 12 Oct 09 - 09:11 AM The record covers credit muusic and lyrics to Cyril Ornadel and David Croft. Ornadel also conducts. There are photographs of the backs of the covers at rarelibrary.com/book/Col-c/155/SET+OF+THREE+BEATRIX+POTTER+45+RPM+EXTENDED+PLAY+RECORDS+WITH+DUST+COVERS.html that usefully also list who sings which song. |

Subject: RE: Does anyone know these Peter Rabbit songs? From: GUEST,Littly Date: 15 Jun 09 - 08:22 PM WONDERFUL! WONDERFUL! Thank you so much! I have been looking for this for a year. Even writing to the BEatrix Potter people. They knew the record, but said there were no plans to make it into a CD. Listening to Peter Rabbit, I realise that after 30 years I still know EVERY word! If anyone can download the other 3 (?) stories from the LP...?? |

Subject: RE: Does anyone know these Peter Rabbit songs? From: GUEST,jewel Date: 08 Apr 09 - 03:11 PM I came on this site after a google search about this very record. I have the original with the 3 other stories but it is very crackly after years of devoted playing as a child. I found myself singing the songs to my own children the other day and decided to see if I could find a better copy to put on CD. You are the answer to my prayers and I am transported back to the past. Thanks for the links. They will continue the legacy in my house. I had no idea so many people remember it like I do. Cheers |

Subject: RE: Does anyone know these Peter Rabbit songs? From: BillE Date: 22 Mar 09 - 06:10 AM Our kids grew up with this cassette, along with the stories of the Flopsy Bunnies, Benjamin Bunny and Mrs Tiggywinkle. Wonderfully singable songs and delightfully told stories. Each one a folk opera! Just yesterday, we passed it on to our 4 year old grand-daughter Izzy. 'Tis a proper tradition now... Bill |

From: GUEST,giles earle Date: 20 Mar 09 - 04:00 AM My brother, when a small boy, had a record of the Peter Rabbit story (with those songs), also a companion one with The Tale of Benjamin Bunny. Subject: RE: Does anyone know these Peter Rabbit songs? From: Peace Date: 19 Mar 09 - 09:03 PM "Friday, June 27, 2008 Not a Run Melbourne race report I often get comments about getting up early, training out in the weather all the time, how I must be so 'disciplined', 'dedicated' etc. etc (ahem, LOL ROFL). As you know, this is far from the case. When I was little my Mum used to play us a bedtime story tape of Peter Rabbit. Peter sang a little song about why he got into such mischief. It pretty much explains everything, and goes like this: Why do I do it? What is the cure? My brothers and my sisters find it easy I am sure That's how I've been ever since I begun Why do I do it? Why do I do it? Why DO I do it? BECAUSE" Found thison the www. |

Subject: music: Does anyone know this song? From: the lemonade lady Date: 19 Mar 09 - 08:35 PM I think it was sung by Joan Plowright in the 1950's and was recorded onto red vinyl i believe: Song number 1. We're a happy family, we're a happy family, and we live at the foot of a big fir tree, Flopsy, Mopsy, nothing could be sweeter, and funny little Cotton Tail, and Peter. Song number 2. Why do i do it? What is the cure? My brothers and my sisters find it easy, I am sure. I'd give the world if only I could, Once in a while, be good. I think a halo would suit me, dangling over my head. When they behold me, they wouldn't scold me, they'd say well done instead... As you can see they are songs written about the Peter Rabbit stories. Anyone else know these and who wrote them, and for what? Sal |
