This is crazy, middle of January and it was 50 degrees today. I saw a flock of at least a dozen Robins.

I remember 68 or so when my old man was BBQin steaks out back and there weren't no snow mid a month from now. Careful when ya say, like I do, one day closer ta yer spring. I seen three days a snow at yer Easter and had ta use snowshoes ta get ta shovel out the snow so we could see outta tha front winda. 5 feet a snow in a day or two here can happen any time. It ain't over yet. Don't tempt Old Man Winter. He's a prick and his Mom is a bitch, naturally.

It is pretty mild in Bristol UK too. It has been like this since just before Christmas not half as cold and snowbound has it has been on the previous two winters. Not even very much ground frost. I don't want to tempt fate we have February and March to get through which has been known to bring snow but for the moment I am happy not to wear thermals.

Same here Patsy, very mild. It's weird isn't it? But I'm thrilled to see our oil is lasting well. I'm hoping it'll see us through to Spring. It's so expensive, over £300 for only 500 litres.

It's still nothing like the winters we had when I was boy. I remember one storm that when it cleared, I saw a neighbor poking around with a pole trying to find his chimney.

Sheesh! My last delivery would have cost me $100 more!
I don't mind the warmer weather because heating oil still costs too much. If the temperature went down much, I'd be wearing several blankets around the house.

That remark reminds me of Ernie Coombs. He was an institution for children and adults alike in Canada. Kids liked his world of fantasy and adults marveled that such a simple idea took wing and was successful from 1967 to 1996. I first watched Mr Dressup when I was about 20 years old. Every few years I'd find it on TV and catch up with old Ernie, the kind of guy ya just liked from step one. I never saw one of those fleecy blanket suits come out of the Tickle Trunk, but I wouldn't be surprised to hear one did.

Eliza I don't laugh like a drain at all-in-one fleecy blankets suits anymore. When I was first married my father bought me a pair of zip up fluffy fleecy all in one pj's with feet in them which looked like and oversized baby-gro it did dampen the ardour of my new husband somewhat back then. I looked like a blue Elmo rather than a temptress but they were so snug and warm. The only worry I would have about fleecy blankets would be to trip over in it trying to answer the doorbell in a hurry. The benefit is not having to use much or any heating which is a great idea.

LOL Patsy, very practical of your Dad, but your husband may certainly have had his ardour dampened! I've seen some very nice fleecy doo-dahs (don't know what they're called) with pink hearts on, to wear while sitting watching TV, and also a strange but cosy all-in-one slipper thing, which takes two feet at a time. I don't know who gives my address to these firms, but another catalogue arrived with old ladies' long woolly vests and 'directoire' lamb's wool knickers, bedsocks and even incontinence pants in a very fetching pale pink. At least I know these products will be there if I should need them! (eg if the price of oil goes up again) (Well, maybe not the incontinence pants)

My neighbour's children have fleecy all-in-ones in animal designs. One is a little tiger (complete with tail) and the boy has a rabbit one (with ears) Now I wonder if it would frighten the life out of my husband if I appeared ready for bed in a similar ensemble? And what animal should I pick? Suggestions please...?
