Alice, "The Grapes of Wraith" :-) Very nice, but aren't you thinking of the novel by the Nobel prize winner John Stainbeck about the angry sex pest:-
The Gropes of Wrath.

He also wrote that very moving story about a union organiser in a sausage factory Of Mince And Men.
His great family saga about a bakery Yeast of Eden was filmed starring a broody James Bean as a doughboy in his last film before his tragic early death.
However I've always liked his rather under rated travelogue about his epic truck journey through Lancashire with an incontinent poodle, Travails with Chorley.

Well it's geting very fanciful, but I think it's more interesting to stick to the original poster's challenge. Add a letter or two to the original title. (and I think subsequently modified to taking away a letter or two)
Once you can take away any letters you like, and replace them with any other letters, the transformations can get out of hand. Though possibly funnier!
