I've got this on a Dubliners compilation, but can't figure out all the lyrics. It's a lovely song - even a good candidate for the sad song tread. here's a fragment:

The swallow sing all along the canal

Which Dubliners compilation is it? I have a book of their music somewhere but I'm no good at remembering words, so a bit more information might help.

Made on their 25th anniversary I think, but I don't remember the name. It also contains Christy Moore's beutiful tribute to Luke Kelly, "Irish Rover" with the Pogues (one additional verse) and "Ballad of St.Anne's Reel". I have some published lyrics of the Dubliners at home as well, but this one was to new

I didn't realise that that was the title of the song because I kept thinking of the song called Black is the Colour, where "I loved the ground whereon she walks" is just one line in the song.

I'll see what is in my Dubliners Book.
