I've decided to start a new THING (best I can think of now). Since I have no life what-so-ever, I spend many a night here at the office in which the Mudcat resides. Might as well, seeing that I find all the things I thought wouldn't work did, broadcast as much as possible. So, I devised a nice little alert to let you know I am here and broadcasting to my hearts content. I do not profess to be entertaining nor appropriate (for occasionally I pop into the bar downstairs and have one or thirty) but I can be live. You'll know it when you see it, and I'll call it "Max Waxes On". I'll try to be in the chat as it goes too. And oh, by the way, use ours when available (we'll perfect it one of these days) cause it does us no good for ya all to be somewhere else talking about us. Oh, and I'll tell you for sure that "Max Waxes On" will never be archived (for liable reasons I'm sure), so you'll just have to catch it live. Gee is that it now?...

My Dad and his brothers worked on the section crews of the Great Northern Railroad in the early part of this century, and they froze through the Montana winters, worked in the dangerous times.(listening to ... go and oil that car). I did a painting in the series that I did of my family from my mother's old photographs from the 30's and 40's with my dad standing near railroad tracks and the front end of a side car. neat to hear the railroading music.

Now I've got your voice on real audio--Max--don't type, just speak. But I can't get the chat room to work. I've got an open window, a thing that says "click here to exit" and no way of typing in amessage that I can figure out.

This is really great to hear you playing music from the Mudcat. It could really be an incentive for people to order recordings, when they can hear a sample from the CD's and tapes available through the Mudcat site.

The archive seems to be working pretty darn well, Max. I'm listening at 12:45 AM Pacific time, and it's still stopping occasionally on my 28.8 connection because of "network congestion." The sound quality is excellent - but maybe reducing quality would reduce the stop-and-go. Later in the show, there were no problems with congestion, so maybe you got it fixed.
I'd say it was an excellent first effort.

The only suggestion I would make at this point is that you try to increase the light in the area covered by the camera.

Cara, At the bottom of one of the pages, I think the radio one, Max has a link which will take you to a site where you can downlaod the updated version of RA.

Apparently the G2 version requires more speed that my old computer can muster. I limp along at 100 and the RA site says I need twice that. So much for me. I guess I'll have to miss Mad Max and his Marvelous Medley of Misplaced Mudcatters.
