I've been hanging about here for a while, and I've sort of sussed out most of the "inside" jargon. But what is THREAD CREEP? (Doesn't sound nice, hope I'm not one!)

...by any other name, i.e. thread-drift, drift-thread, cross-threaded; when the content of a thread strays from its intended subject...also when ideas of one thread are incorporated into another thread....happens all the time, and is generally tolerated and often anticipated as a thread goes through the evolutionary cycle from birth to death.

Regards, Neil

It's funny you should mention thread, Magpie. Just the other day I was talking to a friend about how difficult a time I had trying to thread a needle without my glasses. But, then, my glasses aren't quite what they should be anymore because I am way overdue to get my eyes re-examined. My eyes, by the way, are blue. Not just any blue, but more like the color of the Pacific surf in California - on a cloudy day. But I don't want to think about clouds just now because the skies around here are just lovely and they are showing off the beauty of the leaves which are now in the peak of their color. In fact, I went out hiking in the mountains last weekend to get a better look at them. But in order to get ready, I had to sew a button onto one of my flannel shirts, which is why I needed to thread the needle in the first place. Well, after crunching through the leaves for quite a while, and seeing one spectacularly colored tree after another, I came to the most beautiful little creek. It trickled and splashed over some moss-covered rocks and made the most beautiful sounds as it...Oh! You said "creep" didn't you. Sorry.

I think Threadcreep is a great title for an instrumental.

Teaching by example is often the best method....LMAO Allan!!!!!!!!!

We have sometimes used thread creep to refer to a person Mooman, but generally its just the tendency of a thread to stray on to other ideas. Sometimes it moves slowly and sometimes a bit faster. Often the second idea will trigger a third idea which may triger a fourth, etc.

If the thread creep reaches level 5 of this process, it is then referred to as "Thread Blown All to Hell"....However a drastic jump in one posting...like a lot of mine....takes you to level 5 immediately and bypasses the other 3 levels.

I was wondering, what is the definition of folk music anyway? And that reminds me, Is a frog's ass watertight? If the Titanic had had better watertight compartments then it may not have sunk. I found a melted Hershey bar in my glove compartment the other day!

Personally, I like Jeri's name better, but you can decide............

"Thread Creep" or "Little Stone Putz"

Works either way for me.

'Spaw what you do so often isn't ThreadCreep, it's HYPERDRIVECREEP, when you bypass all those other levels; I'll bet you even had Scotty do the engineering for you!

Beautiful, Allan, LMAO!

I thought it was the gutterspout!

Great thread. Allan, I was thinking about you and your mountains and trees yesterday and I was wishing I could come down for a drive to see all that beauty. Time forbids. Isn't that sad? We spend our lives away trying to make it better and lose it along the way. Well, we have nice colors here in Jersey too. Maybe I can talk Honey into a long drive Saturday..

Love, annap

Scotty's on the holodeck fantasizing over WW in bubble-wrap (or is it warp?) The answer to Art's query of the millenium is __? One possible is "- - - ble". Maybe this is worthy of a thread itself instead of taking Magpie's honest query to level 5. Worry not Magpie, Thread Creep really is a phenomenon and truly not a person, although it seems that many of us can sometimes get downright creepy (no names, please :>) )

Sheesh! The straight (wo)man never gets the credit!

K.S.- If you are serious about looking for that song, start a new thread with the title in the name of the thread. You get a lot more of a response that way.
