...I have wondered what ganglats are? The word is Swedish or Norwegian, I believe? "Does it mean walking song?" Bruce O., might you know?

"Gånglåt" are Swedish "walking" or march tunes; I can only place a couple just now, one in 1/4, one in 2/4. I suspect that the Norwegian "Gangar" is similar. That's all I know...

You might try Henrik Norbeck's website for Swedish march tunes. A couple of years ago he was trying to figure out how "The Wearing of the Green (James Oswald's "The Tulip") came to be a Swedish wedding march. [It was in English dance collections under the title "Ballance a Straw" from a line in song of c 1768 to the tune.}
