It looks more and more like we will have to bear shame and danger for the next two years until after the mid term elections.

Rules and laws are being broken but the nature of the evidence and testimony are all circumstantial. Guilty as hell yes but the nature of proof does not accomplish criminal prosecution or political impeachment yet. It will come close but no cigar. Unfortunately the Nazi types will fight for the failing fool ferociously until the bitter end. Somehow sounds familiar.

Well I would love to be surprised but it looks to me we will have to wait. And wait.

The judicial system in the US is maddening at best and defers to wealth at worst.

Trump may be found innocent if he is insulated enough.

While he is no Teflon President and ignorance of the law is no defense he knows about sacrificial goats, loyalty and setting up fall guys and patsies.

Just looking guilty and having loads of circumstantial evidence is not enough for impeachment. Pense could be involved more deeply to the point of prosecution despite all his claims that he knows nothing. That leaves the speaker of the house in line for the Presidency.

Its too late for Pense to invoke the 25th amendment. Now he too faces a special prosecutor.

All of this speculation awaits the forthcoming evidence. The uninformed Trump base that blames media and routinely refutes facts automatically,
can be incited to do vengeful damage by Trump tweet orders and surrogate protests. For reasons to protect civility, the findings of Mueller may be altered to protect Americans from threats of insurrection. Maybe Trump will whine about unfairness all the way to exile in Mara Lago?

My own take on the situation is that the US has interfered in the democratic process and elections of other countries for decades. Does it really make sense for the powers that be to leave their own process open to manipulation? And if they apparently did(should the rumours be true) one would have to ask why?
The more allegations thrown at Trump the more it raises concerns about deep state.The majority view on this forum seems to take everything the media feeds them at face value. Is critical analysis dead? This I find extremely worrying.
I believe we are seeing mission creep for the engineered takedown of a President with increasingly outrageous allegations being publicised.
Excellent news for those responsible but bad news for both the electorate and the office of the President, irregardless of who is in office in the future. I would have thought a little analysis would be in order instead of wholesale cheering. Who actually benefits when all this has concluded. Emasculating the office of the Presidency benefits no one in my opinion.

Bernie could have beaten Donal John easily.....but the DNC were shitting themselves, they preferred the most mistrusted politician in the US, or even a Republican, than someone with the smell of socialism hanging over them.

Trump is digging a hole that he can't get out of. As noted, he is a sociopath who can't help himself when it comes to the knee-jerk responses and lies to try to make himself look good and set himself in a beneficial business position.

Comey made mistakes, his timing was horrible as far as the timing of a statement regarding the still non-issue of Hillary's email. But he pissed off as many people on the right as well, so at least he was an equal-opportunity offender. The deputy AG who put Mueller in place may have drunk the Trump Koolaid to get his position (Comey didn't trust him because of the nonsense Trump was trying to put in place as far as a loyalty oath) but he chose well as far as an investigator. It has put the Trump White House into full assault-on-Mueller-mode: looking for regulations that will hamstring his investigation. The Keystone Cops are trying to sweep away the tide (mixed metaphors work particularly well for this awful administration).

When the investigation is concluded Trump will be out. But Pence is equally tainted. The problem is that the woman who WON the popular vote can't be awarded the office. To do that would be to tread on too many laws in place. If she'd won this time, she'd have run again in 2020 - so will she choose to run then? I will note here that Ake is just plain clueless when it comes to his analysis of Hillary and her role in American government. His blinders are so huge that the moment he enters into one of these discussions of American politics he makes a spectacle of himself. "Conservative" politicians are in disarray now (because the party was first co-opted by the Tea Party, then watched impotently as Trump left a slime trail as he did a hostile takeover of the party). The Americans who voted for Trump were deluded by a television personality, they don't understand how government works. Neither does Trump. His ascension to office has probably been the single biggest boost to groups like the ACLU, Planned Parenthood, NAACP, and others. This will resolve itself - and a lot of people will have to learn how our government is really supposed to work in the process.
