Subject: Mick Hanly's Crusader From: BeauDangles Date: 07 Jun 00 - 12:05 PM I am presently listening to Mary Black's self-titled album, which contains a beautiful song called Crusader, written by Mick Hanly. It "tells the story of Robin Davidson, who walked across the Australian desert from Alice Springs to the ocean" (from the liner notes). This intrigues me. Who was Robin Davidson? When, and why, did she undertake this epic journey? Where is she now? Any 'Cats from downunder want totackle this for me? Beau |

Subject: RE: BS: Mick Hanly's Crusader From: GUEST,Mrbisok@aol Date: 07 Jun 00 - 08:31 PM Robin Davidson, indeed, did walk across Australia and on the way practiced aboriginal customs -- in order to stay alive. I heard all about this on an Pacifica Radio broadcast about 6 years ago. Robin wrote a book about her walk and her devotion to Austrailian native culture. It was so long ago I forgot the details, but it made a big impression at the time. -- this post is from a New Jersey guy. |
