Subject: Guitar Chord gifs? From: Áine Date: 23 Jun 00 - 05:18 PM (Before you say it, yes I DID do a SuperSearch on the 'Cat and I my PC froze from all the hits in the database...) Does anyone know a site on the Net that has .gif files (or other picture files) for guitar chords that I can download and/or copy? They don't have to be very big, as I'm just going to put them on some lyric pages for my own use. Thanks, Áine |

Subject: RE: Guitar Chord gifs? From: Brendy Date: 23 Jun 00 - 05:29 PM Dia mar, a hÁine. Don't know if this is what your looking for, Shareware 'Guitar Packages'!!, but it might give you what you want, through a back door (if you get my drift *BG*). Either way, it can't hurt to check it out!! B. |

From: IvanB Date: 23 Jun 00 - 05:44 PM If you can't find some here I'd be surprised: Depending on what you want, I have a set of .gifs that I downloaded from somewhere, but they're fretboard layouts, not the little chord diagram boxes you somnetimes see over the staff in sheet music. If they'd help, I'd be happy to send them to you as attachments. They average about 3K for each chord. Sorry, I can't remember where I got them originally.

Subject: RE: Guitar Chord gifs? From: Áine Date: 23 Jun 00 - 06:36 PM Dear Brendy and IvanB, Thanks so much to the both of you! I found what I needed -- basically a "blank" .gif that I can put on my lyrics page and fill in myself with whatever strange chord/voicing I come up with. Brilliant! -- Áine |

Subject: RE: Guitar Chord gifs? From: JohnInKansas Date: 02 Jul 13 - 10:04 AM Many music notation programs include "fonts" that have nearly all possible "chord pictures" one might want to place on a score. You may have "Frets A," "Frets B," and "Frets C" on your computer if you've used one of the common notation programs. There are several other similar fonts. If you can figure out how to print onto your scores/lyrics using one of these fonts you'll likely find that they're "tiny" at normal font sizes, so something like 24 to 36 pt sizing will be needed to make them legible, and there's also the difficulty that it's not trivially easy to find which "letter character" corresponds to which chord, so you may need to build a "map" to find the ones you want. The fonts will print okay in Word or other WP programs, permitting you to just "type" the chords into lyric sheets - if you can figure out which one to type where. In older Word versions, accurate alignment of chord symbols with the lyric can be achieved using the "Array Field" (not difficult, but a little tedious) but since Microsoft destroyed most really useful features with Office 2007 and after it may be almost impossible to figure out how to use that feature in later versions. This is offered as a "possibility" rather than as a recommendation, since most people can find simpler (like pasting .gifs) methods for what you want to do. John |
