Subject: Heard a haunting song.... From: Todd Boyle Date: 15 Jul 97 - 07:43 PM Heard a haunting song on the radio some months past, with this refrain ...he steals along our dismal alleys and wipes a tear from every eye I think it was a religious song. Anybody tell me where to find this? Beautiful site you have here, this is my first visit and already found two other songs I sorely needed. |

Subject: RE: Heard a haunting song.... From: Tilell Date: 16 Jul 97 - 09:58 PM Hmmmmm, I don't remember if I've got it or not, but I think I MIGHT have this song in an OLD songbook from camp. Not really along my religious lines, but I'll be happy to dig through trunks if you'd like. :) |

Subject: Lyr Add: HE WIPES THE TEAR FROM EVERY EYE From: Jim Dixon Date: 06 Aug 11 - 01:45 PM Probably not the song that was wanted, but.... From the sheet music found at the State Library of Victoria. Click for a PDF file. HE WIPES THE TEAR FROM EVERY EYE Words, Mrs. Mackinlay. Music, Alexander Lee. Melbourne: Stanley Mullen Pty. Ltd. [n.d.] When sore afflictions crush the soul And riven is ev'ry earthly tie The heart must cling to God alone; He wipes the tear from ev'ry eye. Through wakeful nights wen reck'd with pain, "On bed of languishing" you lie, Remember still, your God is near, To wipe the tear from ev'ry eye. A few short years and all is o'er Your sorrow, pain, will soon pass by; Then lean in faith on God's dear Son, He'll wipe the tear from ev'ry eye. Oh! Never be your soul cast down Nor let your heart desponding sigh, Assur'd that God, whose name is Love, Will wipe the tear from ev'ry eye. |
