Heard a haunting song on the radio some months past, with this refrain

...he steals along our dismal alleys and wipes a tear from every eye

I think it was a religious song. Anybody tell me where to find this?

Beautiful site you have here, this is my first visit and already found two other songs I sorely needed.

Hmmmmm, I don't remember if I've got it or not, but I think I MIGHT have this song in an OLD songbook from camp. Not really along my religious lines, but I'll be happy to dig through trunks if you'd like. :)

the september song sung by tony bennet around early 1950s. some words were...and the days dwindled down to a precious few, september. november...
