Subject: Rice, Beans and New Orleans...
From: GUEST,Joe

Hi All,

I'm hoping someone can help me with this song that's running around in my otherwise hollow skull. I only remember one line - "went down to New Orleans, got myself some rice and beans". The singer sounded like Tom Waits but I don't think it was. I heard it a while back on XPN in Philly but even they can't remember it... Thanks in advance for any and all help!

Joe

I have one in my skull, too.

We have some red beans / We have some rice / Little bit of bacon makes the flavor nice. That's all I remember.

Steve Earle sings: I spent some time in New orleans
I had to live on rice and beans...

on "Hometown Blues" - he opens by apologising to Doc Watson...
