Who was that singer? (Doc Watson)

I watched the movie "Places in the Heart" acouple of nights ago. The man singing "Cotten Eyed Joe" looked and sounded very familiar. I was going to check the credits, but the network did not show them, so I did not get his name.Anyone know who he is?

If it was the Older guy in the dance band at the party his name is Bert Remsen. Character actor who has been around since before rocks.

Did he actually sing the songs? Sounded similar to Doc Watson.

It WAS Doc Watson....He and Merle did the soundtrack....Lots of good ol' songs.
