Subject: What is a Bass Box? From: lloyd64 Date: 06 Nov 00 - 11:03 PM A friend is building a Bass Box. He says it is a Box with tone keys like a Thumb Harp only much larger. He is a very good Bass player so he knows how a bass should sound and claims the sound is very close to a full size bass. Any information anyone? Lloyd

Subject: RE: What is a Bass Box From: GUEST,Uncle Jaque Date: 07 Nov 00 - 12:55 PM Interesting. I always associated the term with the usually hidden bass tubes in a pipe-organ, built of wood in a square cross-section. The one in our Church as I recall is about 14" square, 8 ft. long, and puts out a tone that you feel more than hear. I used to love singing in the choir, the loft being right in front of the organ rack, and having that bass box just rattle our bones with a powerful harmonic frequency with what we were singing (I was in the Bass section). It made the little creepy-crawly titterjingles run all up and down my spine and my ears vibrate in harmonic resonance. It's about the next best thing to getting lit up with the Holy Spirit! Glory! |

Subject: RE: What is a Bass Box From: Max Tone Date: 07 Nov 00 - 06:13 PM Take one tea-chest, approx 18" x 18" x 24", turn upside down, make hole in middle of bottom (now top) Knot piece of string, feed up through hole (via a washer, if you wanna make sure the knot won't pull through the hole) and tie off to end of pole - yer floor mop'll do-- tune up and bend those notes! Mohican haircut helps! Rob |
