So, in honor of our dear friend Karen K., who had a birthday on December 19, and who missed her own party (according to Sandy Paton, whose granddaughter Julianna shares the same occasion and whose house the party was at) because of being in the hospital, a rousing round of Mudcat applause and good wishes. Much love and a very happy, if belated, birthday Karen. May the coming year bring you better health, much music and song, and the continued love of good friends (of which I am honored to be one). This has been a tough year for me and there were times when I really wasn't sure that I would make it to another birthday. That I have, is mostly because of so many good friends on Mudcat who have kept me going when I wanted to give up. Thanks especially to Sandy, Kathy, Mick, 'Spaw, Joe Offer, kat, Knitpick and Songster Bob, Jeri, Animaterra, Rita Ferrara, Bill Day, Lorraine, Judy and Dennis Cook, Charlie Baum and Lisa Null, LaMarca and George, Bonnie and Dan Milner, annamill and so many more. I know I've left out some folks from this list and I'm sorry. People all share the same face until they knock on my mind and walk gently into my heart. All of you on Mudcat will live in my heart forever. I am humbled, flattered and appreciative of all the wonderful compliments and wishes in this thread. From: Sandy Paton Date: 25 Dec 00 - 12:05 AM Karen arrived early this evening, in time to go with us to the Congregational Church on the Green down in Sharon for the Christmas Eve service. Our oldest grandchild, Linnea, was singing a solo in the service (it takes at least that sort of a special event to get this old heathen into such a place). It turned out to be a number of brief readings interspersed with some lovely songs by the small choir and favorite carols sung by everyone. I will confess that I truly enjoyed it. Karen is feeling pretty well right now. She will be with us for the "family Christmas morning" and the traditional dinner (no broccoli!), but must go home in the late afternoon to prepare for more tests at the hospital on Tuesday. She's doing well, friends, and we are happy she was able to be here with us. She has been our dear friend for more than thirty years and, in fact, was the person who introduced me to the Mudcat. I hope you all have an equally fine Christmas. Sandy |
