I am looking for photos of the Gartan area of County Donegal. I'm searching the net, but if anyone knows of sites with images of the landscape, towns, etc., I'd appreciate the links. Thank you.

If you find any, Alice, let us know! Animaterra (the chorus) will be singing the Gartan Mother's Lullabye in the spring with the new verse (thanks to you! I'll give credit where it's due!) and I'd love to see the photos!

Thanks, JTT, that's the first picture of Lough Gartan I've ever seen. Now I am trying to find photo references for the type of bees in the area (don't ask much, do I?) and have found a few sites on bee keeping in Ireland, but no bee photos. Mary O'Hara mentioned in one of her books that she recalled as a child seeing bees that had red on their bodies, later remembering it when she learned the lyrics of the lullaby. There is a very wide range of shapes that bees have, so if anyone can refer me to a book or URL that would provide photos, I would appreciate it. Thank you.

Alice,

I have a relative who lives on the edge of Gartan lake, in fact he owns part of it. He just sent me a photo of the lake taken from his back door just at sunset, its a bit dark and I don't know how to send in to the thread. I will forward your inquiry to him and see what response I get.

Beekeeping in Ireland by JK Watson would be the definitive book, I think.

You'll get it, as well as the Irish Beekeepers' Association magazine An Beacaire, here:
