I once had a bad case of mazurkas. I couldn't even get out of bed. Luckily I found a miracle cure...a new med called "Polonaise".

McGrath, several of us who know about JC's plug it regularly, along with The Web Wide ABC Index. That one is a big page and takes a while to load. I like JC's because of the search feature, the web wide index has no search page, just the find button under Edit, which doesn't always help.

Brand name. Dehydrated crystals you add to hot water. No drip,no perc, no brew. Nasty stuff, but I drink it anyway, grin.

Thought I ought to make the obligatory mention of the Kammen International Dance Folios, they were designed to provide dance bands with all the standard ethnic dance tunes that might be expected at weddings, etc--

Folio number No.1 has five generically labeled melodies(No.30,31,32,34, and No.35) that are familiar to all the old timers. The dances Mazurka, Oberek, Kujaviak use the same melodies and have the same feel, which is is a relatively slow three with a dragging sort of feeling on the first beat--It isn't a waltz!

I am not sure if they are listed in JC's tunefinder, but "Ada's Kujaviak" and the "Blue Kujaviak" are very pretty and pleasing to play, as well--

by the way how is that mazurka (being Polish in origin) made it to Ireland. I know the Polka spread from Bohemia in the early 1800's mainly by troops returning from Napoleonic wars. (was it the same for the Mazurka, and why are they found mainly in southern Ireland) Petr
