Subject: RE: BS: Meet CarolC, Newmarket Feb 9th From: MMario Date: 02 Feb 01 - 02:05 PM less - it's a five hour drive - and I have to be an hour south of home at seven, which means I would have to leave the Newmarket at 1. That's three hours before it begins.
This isn't gonna work |

Subject: RE: BS: Meet CarolC, Newmarket Feb 9th From: Allan C. Date: 02 Feb 01 - 02:10 PM I'm happy to say that I have already met her. However, I have yet to have the pleasure of hearing more than just a few notes on her accordion. I wish I could be there. Thanks for the invitation, though. |

Subject: RE: BS: Meet CarolC, Newmarket Feb 9th From: Little Hawk Date: 03 Feb 01 - 11:59 PM Yes, Newmarket, Ontario, Canada. Not the racetrack place. I just got back from said occasion, and it was fun. Flattop, CarolC, John B and his wife, and me, and some other people played various songs. Carol made a lot fewer mistakes tonight than at song circle on Monday, so she must be getting used to us Canadians. I don't know why, but Flattop mistakenly titled this thread to say that the event was scheduled for Fev 9th. It wasn't. It happened tonight...Feb 3rd, as is indicated in his original posting, but not in its title. That boy's been into the sauce again or something. Maybe it was the cheese-covered rabbit turds that threw him off. Who knows? I guess that's why all you people didn't come, eh? Rick Fielding's absence was particularly noted, so I am blaming it on Flattop for screwing up the date. :-D - LH |

Subject: RE: BS: Meet CarolC, Newmarket Feb 9th From: Rick Fielding Date: 04 Feb 01 - 12:18 AM Bloody Hell! Well it confused heather all right. She told me before I started teaching that the date had been changed. Obviously she can't be trusted to read posts, ONLY headers! Sorry I missed it guys. Didn't visit Mudcat til ten minutes ago. Oh well, we ain't dead yet, so I'll get to meet you Carol at SOME point. Hawk as well. Didn't even do a blessed thing this afternoon except watch TV and fall asleep. Rick |

Subject: RE: BS: Meet CarolC, Newmarket Feb 9th From: Sorcha Date: 04 Feb 01 - 01:34 AM I figured it was Newmarket Races, UK, too. Even though I have been following her Canada trip. Let's blame Dick Francis, shall we? (Wyoming US is a Looooong ways from either. Probably wouldn't have made it even if it weren't Dickies' fault.) Hope you had a good time! |

Subject: RE: BS: Meet CarolC, Newmarket Feb 9th From: flattop Date: 04 Feb 01 - 11:01 AM Please forgive my vacuously boobish witlessness. I feel as featherbrained as a Little Hawk. We will have to arrange another date for folks to meet Carol. I'll get her to proofread! |

Subject: RE: BS: Meet CarolC, Newmarket Feb 9th From: JohnB Date: 04 Feb 01 - 11:17 AM Well it was your loss if you were not there, WE had a good time. By the way if you have never met CarolC you should, she is really nice,(What else would you expect from a Mudcatter) What no one else seems to mention is that she has only been playing the Accordian since MAY last year, I just wish that my learning curve went up that steeply, at anything. It was good to meet Flattop and Little Hawk too, turns out that I met Flattop at last years Millrace festival, just did not know it was him. Orillia is just a hive of talent. JohnB |

Subject: RE: BS: Meet CarolC, Newmarket Feb 9th From: CarolC Date: 04 Feb 01 - 11:22 AM I'm sorry we didn't get to see more people. But JohnB, Tina (John's wife), Little Hawk, flattop and I had a lovely time. The Corner Coffee House is a warm and comfortable environment for getting together and enjoying music and each others' company. Everybody had a different kind of music, and all of it was good. (And the desserts there are wickedly sinful.) Carol |

Subject: RE: BS: Meet CarolC, Newmarket Feb 9th From: Little Hawk Date: 04 Feb 01 - 11:37 AM Don't feel so bad, flattop. Anyone who can come up with a phrase like "vacuously boobish witlessness" has obviously got some significant work yet to do in this world. Maybe this would be a good time to mention that I am doing a musical gig in Toronto NEXT Saturday, Sep 10th, at a place called Holy Joe's. I am opening for friends Jen & Eric (that's Jennifer Claveau...a girl with a great voice and some great original songs, and her partner Eric, who's a very tasteful guitar player). I can post some more details on it later, and maybe we can all get together on that one. The main trouble with Holy Joe's is: there is so much cigarette smoke in there sometimes that you could walk on it. Yuck! Other than that, it's fine. The sound system is good and so is the audience. They are there to hear original material, which makes it a true folk club as far as I'm concerned. - LH |

Subject: RE: BS: Meet CarolC, Newmarket Feb 9th From: hesperis Date: 04 Feb 01 - 07:11 PM Yeah. And of course, I got sick and missed ALL the things that I was supposed to go to this weekend, as well as nearly killing one of my hamsters through neglect cause my head wasn't on right, and neither were my legs. I HATE it when my period starts early! And I can't go to Toronto to see LH play because of the goddamn smoke! I AM NOT HAVING A GOOD WEEKEND! *sigh* (At least the hammie is ok now. And chewing at the cage. Back to normal.) |
