Subject: Comical Genius From: GUEST,stephenmacdonogh@eircom.net Date: 13 Feb 01 - 08:11 PM Hello Mudcatters I'm looking for the lyrics of a song called The Comical Genius. It concerns a young Irishman who "got a brave notion and joined up the Guards". After training he was posted to the town of Athy, and there he saw a girl he fancied. She wasn't interested in any servant of the state "she being a diehard". However, he reckoned his chance had come one night when he found her out on her bicycle without any lights. "Where's your lights, miss?" says he. For an answer says she: "They're next to my liver, where you'll never be." I think it's a rare one. Is there anyone out there who knows the words? B |

Subject: Lyr Add: COMICAL GENIUS From: Sorcha Date: 13 Feb 01 - 08:25 PM Is this it?
COMICAL GENIUS (the Guard)
O a comical genius was thinking one day
Well he went up to Dublin, to the depot went in
He was stationed somewhere near the town of Athy
Well the girls they would wink and they'd nod as he passed
Well one time while on duty on a cold winter's night
