Midchuck and his wife the saint (Mizchuck)will entertain us all in this weeks edition of the concert series. For technical reasons, the concert will eminate from my house and will commence at 8:00PM EST on Thursday, March 1 and may be heard in the Mudcat Concert room on Paltalk, password marmot.

Note that, since I'll be doing the concert out of Sandy's house, the little mic symbol will say "bigchuck."

But it will actually be me or me and Kris - unless the singer screws up really badly. Then it was Sandy all along.

I sure hope this works. Last night, I got the impression that bigchuck was upset with me...

Matt, I learned the version of "Renardine" that I do from the singing of Mick Moloney on a tape entitled "The Green Fields of America, Live in Concert," that Green Linnet put out in 1989. In the notes, he says he learned it from Margaret MacArthur. I found a very similiar one, but titled "Rinordine," on a recording of the MacArthur family that originally came out on Alcazar in 1972. In fact, the album title is "On the Mountains High."

So the song got from Marlboro, VT to Pittsford, VT, by way of Philly, or wherever Mr. Moloney hangs out.

Sinsull, the story of Priscilla is from a series of SciFi novels by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller set in the "Liaden Universe". If you ask Peter he will tell you the titles and such.

You will need to read Conflict of Honors, which is many years out of print but has just been republished as the first third of Partners in Necessity - if you click on that title, it takes you to Amazon.com to order it - and Moonphase, which is the last of the three stories in Fellow Travelers, one of the "chapbooks" that Steve and Sharon have self-published and sell directly in the "goodies" section.

If you like reading exquisitely written space opera or Regency romances, you will probably have trouble stopping once you start.
