Subject: RE: A Love Song for Friends From: Allan C. Date: 02 Mar 01 - 09:12 PM I get the impression this is one of those, "you just had to be there" type things. My hope is that the tune is what makes this song a good one. I think these lyrics aren't much better than Rod Stewart's "Wake Up, Maggie". My apologies to Pete; but I have seen far more romantic lyrics. |

Subject: RE: A Love Song for Friends From: GUEST, J.F.R.A. Date: 02 Mar 01 - 09:42 PM Well, Allan, I just looked at the thread with your name on it. You seem to be held in high regard around here. So on behalf of Mudcat in general, I dedicate the song to YOU. Since we don't know each other, this part:
What I got to say's so personal, can't say it to no one but you. There. Now you can have "been there"! |

Subject: RE: A Love Song for Friends From: tiggerdooley Date: 03 Mar 01 - 07:47 AM Allan C Rod Stewart's Maggie is amazing. I don't know whether you're interested, but Blur did a cover of it years ago and it had an almost Phil Spector 'wall of sound feel'. You might not like it at all, but you WOULD find it interesting to hear how they do it. The boy Damon doesn't sing it very well, though. Tigger |

Subject: RE: A Love Song for Friends From: CarolC Date: 06 Mar 01 - 07:14 PM I see that I have had a song lobbed at me. I'm passing it on to all of the Mudcatters and other people in Canada who made me feel so warm and welcome while I was there.
I'm gonna sing me a glove song
Come along with me, down by the lake.
What I got to say's not personal, but I'm saying it just to you,
Now my song is ended, but the melody lingers on.
