If you find yourself near Calgary, Alberta, (I know, you might choose to go to Tibet or Machu Pichu to find yourself; but if you, say, get lost on the way, and find yourself near Calgary) on June 23, take a drive to Water Valley, a little town about an hour northwest of the city. Here you will find the third annual Water Valley Traditional Celtic Festival.

A swell gathering with local area musicians playing in four or five indoor venues.Local, in this case being anyone who pays their own travel expenses. Previous festival had performers from Kansas. The state, not the band.
Here is a website:

Water Valley

As we had to cancel the Fox & Hounds Weekend of Song this year because of 3 cases of Foot & Mouth in the village, thought we'd let you know that 2002 will be same place (Dartmoor), same weekend (2nd Weekend in May), same pub (same Landlord who loves us being there - well he is Irish...)

Almost shameless plug:

My own website has a listing of as many festivals as I've been able to find for Ontario, Canada set out in a calendar format. This includes all of the festivals listed with the Ontario Council of Folk Festivals and some others that are not part of the OCFF.

Go to: www.jeremiah.ca and click on "The Folk Calendar"

And whatever you do, have a great summer!!!

If you posted one of the above, please check the LINKS section in a few days. The Festival website link and a link to this thread should, by then, be in the Mudcat LINKS pages so you can find it all easily next year, too.

~S~

(Chanteyranger-- I didn't list yours-- if that is an annual one, not just for this year, please PM me if you want it added.)
