Nope, it's not the name of a fiddle tune, but maybe it should be. I've had some peculiar problems in my life but this is a first: I'm away from home a lot and returned to find that my cheap boombox wouldn't play CDs. Turns out that a colony of large ants have inhabited it and built nests throughout. Does anyone know how to murder the tenants (squatters) without destroying the machine? Do I have to take it apart? I am distraught but will probably make it through the day. Thanks.

Take apart. Blow out with pressurized air (you do have an air compressor, right?). Reassemble.

Well, it worked for my daughter's portable CD player when she got sand in it.

Put it inside a plastic bag, getting rid of as much air as possable, seal and place in freezer for a few hours. Allow to return to room temperture before using. This should kill the ants and the eggs. And you still may need to take it apart.

Good luck, Roy
