Ah, Sorcha, I gotta teach you to search here at Mudcat first (click). That does help, because then it establishes that we already have the song, and it doesn't need to be posted again. If you really want to help, you could say the song has been posted here (click) in the forum and has/has not been harvested for the Digital Tradition.
This song has been harvested.
Thanks.

Thanks so much for your help. I've heard Faith Petric sing this at campouts and I couldn't follow the chords.

Cheers

G'day Equalrice,

Yes, we just heard Faith singing it out here in the Antipodes (March/April ... our early Autumn). I saw and heard her at the Illawarra Folk Festival in Jamberoo, New South Wales and then at the Australian National Folk Festival at Canberra, in the Australian Capital Territory. Undoubtedly, Alison would have also seen her then.

Faith is a wonderful lady, and has a beautiful gentle way with a song ... even when you notice a few bruises later!

Regards,

Bob Bolton

Who decides what songs to harvest, and when? Are there any criteria for eligibility?
Hi, Pavane - the harvesters are Susan of DT, Jim Dixon, and Joe Offer. We harvest just about everything that would be of interest to fok musicians, although we get a little slow to harvest commercial stuff like country and pop. I harvested this one this week - but maybe it was in another thread. We send the lyrics in to Dick Greenhaus, and he & Susan make the final decision about what gets into the database.

MAN WALKS AMONG US
Words & Music: Marty Robbins

[D=1] Warm are the Winds on the [Bm=6m] Desert
[D=1] A Whirlwind is dancing a-[Bm=6m] round
[D=1] I [G=4] stopped to [F#m=3m] Survey
All the [Em=2m] Beauty that's [D=1] here
When a [Bm=6m] Shadow moves out
'Cross the [Em=2m] Ground [A7=57]

It's an [D=1] Eagle that circles above me
And he [Bm=6m] screams to his Friends on the [F#m=3#m] Hill
[G=4] Stay close to-[F#m=3#m] gether
[Em=2m] Move not a [D=1] Feather
[Em=2m] Man Walks A-[F#m=3#m] mong Us
Be [Em=2m] still, be [F#m=3#m] still
[Em=2m] Man Walks A-[A7=57] mong Us, be [D=1] still

CHORUS

[G=4] Twenty feet high in the [F#m=3#m] side of a Cactus [G=4]
I see a hole where the [D=1] Butcher Bird stays
If [G=4] Mortals could choose
And if [F#m=3#m] Heaven should ask us
[E7-27] Here's where I'd want to spend [A7-57] all of my days

[D=1] Everything hides but I [Bm-6m] see them
I've [D=1] spotted an old Mother [Bm-6m] Quail
[D=1] I [G-4] look close and [F#m=3#m] see
Looking [Em-2m] right back at [D=1] me
The [Bm-6m] Eyes of a young Cotton-[Em-2m] tail [A7=57]

[D=1] I see a Coy-o-te sneaking
As he [Bm-6m] crawls thru the Brush on the [F#m=3#m] Hill
And the [G-4] Eagle screams [F#m=3#m] down
Stay [Em-2m] close to the [D=1] Ground
[Em-2m] Man Walks A-[F#m=3#m] mong Us
Be [Em-2m] stil be [F#m=3#m] still
[Em-2m] Man Walks A-[A7=57] mong Us, be [D=1] still

[D=1] Soon will be gone all the Desert
[Bm-6m] Cities will cover each [F#m=3#m] Hill
To-[G-4] day will just [F#m=3#m] be
A [Em-2m] fond Mem-o-[D=1] ry
[Em-2m] Man Walks A-[F#m=3#m] mong Us
