Subject: RE: Who are singing these nice songs ? From: catspaw49 Date: 30 Jun 01 - 12:45 PM Could (b) be "Dedicated to the one I Love?" The Mamas and the Papas had a big hit with it but I think it was originally by the Shirelles maybe. Some of the words don't sound right though. Spaw |

Subject: Lyr Add: PRETTY WOMAN From: 53 Date: 01 Jul 01 - 08:30 AM d is probably Roy Orbison's "Pretty Woman.” Found the following on Lyrics World
Oh, Pretty Woman - Peak Billboard position # 1 in 1964 (drum-driven open)
Pretty woman, walkin' down the street
Pretty woman, won't you pardon me
Pretty woman, stop awhile
Pretty woman, don't walk on by
Transcribed by Ronald E. Hontz
Hope this is what you need. |

Subject: RE: Who are singing these nice songs ? From: GUEST,Sergio Alguim Date: 03 Jul 01 - 08:34 PM Hi, my mudcat-friends. I think you are right about all the songs, except "d", and its probably my fault. The right lyric is probably more like this: help me come on, come on I`ll take you there help me all I`ll take you there help me now I´ll take you there oh, oh, mercy I´ll take you there oh, let me take you there oh right aint nobody crying ? aint nobody worrying ? no smiling faces I am calling for mercy mercy, mercy I´ll take you there
Its not Roy Orbison. Even I would have recognised him. I am a little bit Roy Orbison-fan myself. I think its a woman who is singing, and the line "I`ll take you there" (or maybe something else?) is repeated many times. Its very funny how its possible for me to make mistakes of what they are singing. "sensaviva" is "sad sweet dreamer". About abc-123: My version sounds more like "Cindy Lauper" or something like that. But I dont know how Jackson 5 sounds. My version of «Dedicated to the one I love » is probably from The Mamas and the Papas. Otherwise: Thanks a lot for the answers of all the songs. Sergio

Subject: RE: Who are singing these nice songs ? From: GUEST,Sergio Alguim Date: 04 Sep 01 - 03:00 PM In the movie "Casino" with Robert de Niro and Sharon Stone (and James Woods), they played about 15 seconds of the song "I´ll take you there" by maybe The Staple Singers. Its in the start of the movie when they get married. I was very surprised when I heard it. But the movie was very boring. I think it was supposed to be a kind of "Godfellows" but it was VERY boring, I think. |
