Subject: Cormac Breatnach From: Roger in Sheffield Date: 15 Jul 01 - 08:57 AM on the radio I heard a haunting tune played by Cormac Breatnach. I have seen the name before but know little about him. I am thinking about buying the Cd but wanted to know what other people say about his music first ( I have bought Cds on the basis of one song before and been disappointed by the other tracks) I have found the Chiff and fipple interview but a lot of the other links I have found don't seem to work or are out of date. This could be due to the latest Cd being a homespun product. |

Subject: RE: Cormac Breatnach From: GUEST,Philippa Date: 15 Jul 01 - 07:15 PM Innovative flute player, brought up speaking Irish and Spanish in a very political (Nationalist) Dublin family. Recorded with a group called Deiseal. He's still about, doing plenty of performing. I think you'll find his playing consistent; if you like his style you'll probably like most tracks. |

I love it so far, just how anyone can get such a beautiful sound out of a whistle is beyond me. It reminds me of the styles of Michael McGoldrick and Brian Finnegan. Roger |

Subject: RE: Cormac Breatnach From: Roger in Sheffield Date: 23 Jul 01 - 02:01 PM Thanks PJ, I even like the title! I recently lost my feadog whistle only for it to turn up when I raked over the ashes after burning some rubbish in the garden. It had obviously fallen into the bin and then been cremated, it was my first whistle too and I liked it Roger |
