Subject: RE: Leatherwing Bat From: Joe Offer Date: 09 Jan 98 - 02:55 AM Hi, Ellen - that song's in the database. Use the box in the upper right corner of most pages here and search for "Leatherwing." Or, you can click Uncle Joe's Handy-Dandy Magical Link and be whisked right to your song. Peter, Paul and Mary recorded this song on the "Peter, Paul and Mommy" album, and you might want to check their Web site for their version of the lyrics. -Joe Offer- |

Subject: RE: Leatherwing Bat From: Ellen Date: 09 Jan 98 - 04:25 AM Yeah, I know it's in the database. My question was, is the chorus sung to the same melody as the verses? I am assuming it is since the melody in the database is so short. |

Subject: RE: Leatherwing Bat From: Bud Savoie Date: 06 Aug 00 - 05:32 PM The chorus to "Leatherwing Bat" is usually nonsensical and goes something like: "Ow dee dow and a diddle um day. Ow dee sow and a diddle up day. Ow dee dow and a diddle up day. And a hey lee lee and a lie lee lo." That is Pete Seeger's version. "Same Old Man": "Same Old Man living at the mill. The mill turns around of its own free will. One hand in the hopper and the other in the sack. Ladies step forward and the gents fall back." TShe tunes are similar but not identical. |
