Most of the times lately when I try to read this forum I get the above error. It happens at home and work there does't seem to be a pattern. Can anyone help please.

Error Diagnostic Information

WaitNamedPipe returned FALSE.

Windows NT error number 121 occurred.

I had been getting the same error since Friday. Only this morning did the 'pipes' clear up.

It's always a good idea to bookmark each server as well as the Help Forum just for these times.

Well, I've changed my mind. Maybe I do get it. Sort of a 'shake the rubber chicken at the server' kind of thing?

Mudcat exists on 3 servers which Max has kindly set up. Sometimes, usually over the weekend, something burps and they all need to be rebooted. Often that does not happen until a Monday morning, as who wants to work on the weekends?**BG**

Anyway, here's a little info:

You can always go to the Help Forum, to see if anyone has posted anything about it being down, at http://help.mudcat.org/threads.cfm Although all 3 servers were down, sometimes they aren't, so it helps to check each of them, too. They are: www.mudcat.org, http://ragtime.mudcat.org, and http://loki.mudcat.org The one that is working for me, right now, is ragtime.

SO glad to see the Cat back to accessibility this morning. But I had a good scare--what if it was all gone for who knows how long?

if ever The Servers All Go Down, what would be a site where news on the Mudcat would be posted, or what would be the best email addresses to try for information?

There've been a couple of times where the Help was down, too. Then we all just kind of emailed around. If you go to the Quick Links and look at Member Photos and Info, some have their email addys listed.

Also, Alice in Montana has a music list where we could all meet, if Mudcat ever went down totally. Her's is at Alice's Music Site.

Best thing still is the Help Forum. Glad to see you got back in here, Jack.

If I get stuck, I go to Yahoo!, and type in Mudcat.org, because they list Mudcat's help page among their links.

So WaitNamedPipe goes out on an errand given to him by the Gods of Mudcat but returns false. False to whom? To his lover he left behind, or to the Gods themselves, and why?

Yeah, been some problems lately. We are about 2 weeks from some new upgrades and a Mudcat update which should solve some of these problems. Very little I can do about it now. There is really no decent explanation I can give of what actually happens, though it is based on heavy usage. I'll explain more later.

Actually, Max picked up the troublesome software at Penn State for a song. He did a rendition of "St. James Infirmary" that they didn't much care for and hence, the defective software. Of course, being Penn State, they didn't have any stuff that worked anyway except for a program explaining their grading system which even gives passing marks to adolescent yaks and has allowed PSU to have a high graduation rate for their football teams.......and those guys can't even spell yak.

At the same time that I was unable to access the 'Cat, I was unable to get to my inbox on one of my e-mail providers. A message on this providers main page told of a cable severance in the LA swamps that was interfering with the service. I thought that this was also the reason for the 'Cat outage.

Geez khandu, remember where you are! To most of these folks, "LA" means Los Angeles whereas in your case it can mean either Louisiana or Lower Alabama, in this case Louisiana I suppose.
