Does anyone know the real title and artist of this song?

I was always told that the title was Pop Malloy. Something like ....Ol' Pop Malloy was quick'n with a gun..... a mighty maverick.........

Pop Malloy was pure a quick hand with a gun
he found a kid a maverick and raised him like a son
he taught him how to rope and ride and showed him the lighting draw
and made the kid a sure a shot as Texas ever saw.
