I searched to see if I am duplicating a thread here already about the Virtual Session online at the BBC Radio site. I added a link to it in Mudcat links. Here it is: THE VIRTUAL SESSION if you are desperate for a session and can't get to one, play along with these guys. My apologies if there has already been a thread about this.

Spaw, I saw that several songcatcher threads were renewed yesterday, but I didn't read them. I am sparing with my time on Mudcat. I always search before starting a thread, but didn't know if the forum search was down or something, because it should have returned alot of threads just on the word "session", and I got nothing.

Something I've heen wondering...Songcatcher reminded me of it...who was the "traipsin' woman?"...my dad used to call me that. I always thought it was a collector in Eastern Kentucky.

For those who can't find the other thread, believe it or not, it is called The Virtual Session.

I'm not complaining about another thread or a reminder of this great resource, just a little puzzled as to why the previous thread proved to be so hard to find.

Actually I've noticed that - the search facility is great but it doesn't like to have to work. If there is the slightest difference, like a missed punctuation or a capital letter, it goes into a sulk and won't play. I tried to refresh a thread I started last month and can't locate it anywhere!

When I play the samples at the site, I get sound. But when I go into the session, I get music but no sound. Anyone have an explanation?

Well, I know the barn dance because we play it here. I'm afraid I don't know what the name of it is - I'm not sure anyone does.

Uh, on the sound - did you try clicking on the little play button. Not that I had the same problem myself, mind you. ;-)

Just played the slow Barn Dance. It bears a STRONG resemblance to Margaret's Waltz......maybe that is why it is so familiar.
