Subject: I'm in the MN Folk Fest New Song finals! From: Trapper Date: 05 Sep 01 - 05:45 PM Hey y'all - I thought I'd brag a little and let you know that I got into the finals of the Minnesota Folk Festival Folk Songwriting Competition! I entered two songs (as per the rules): Minnesota Autumn and Twenty Years Experience. (I'll get around to posting "Minnesota Autumn" one of these fine Autumn days!) On Sunday, Sept. 16th at 11:33am I get to perform them LIVE for the Festival audience, along with 29 other finalists. If anybody's in the St.Paul, MN area, the festival is a two-day event, at Mounds Park in St.Paul. It's FREE! Come and cheer for me! I need it!!! Thanks for letting me celebrate! - Al |

Subject: RE: BS: I'm in the MN Folk Fest New Song finals! From: Joe Offer Date: 06 Sep 01 - 01:22 PM There used to be a Web page called "Boycetrous Songs, which featured lots of Al's songs. Alas, it has gone the way of Webpages. With his new-found fame, perhaps Al will resurrect it - or, Al, you could post more songs in this very thread or submit them to the Mudcat Songbook. -Joe Offer- |

Subject: RE: BS: I'm in the MN Folk Fest New Song finals! From: Trapper Date: 17 Sep 01 - 01:45 PM Well, I didn't win, but I had a great time! Vance Gilbert from Boston, as well as two other New Folk Song contestants from Brooklyn were unable to attend due to the air restrictions stemming from last week's violence. Jerry Rau, the Minnesota Troubadour, did a cover of "Fire and Rain" by James Taylor... "Sweet dreams and flying machines in pieces on the grount..." Chilling. - Al |
