Subject: RE: Folk session in Hull From: Rt Revd Sir jOhn from Hull Date: 09 Sep 01 - 07:24 PM Hi Smallpiper, Who turns up varies, but includes White Dove (Vocals, guitar, bodhran) The landlady & her sisters AKA These girls dont dust (singers) Andy, Cliff & Jock AKA Freedoms Road (Guitar, Bazouki, Whistles) John & Chrissy (Harps) Phil & Merry (Guitar & Mandolin) Emma Rugg (Guitar) JJ Cale (Guitar) Harry Gurevitz (Blues Guitarist) Paul Walch (Banjos) All of the above are proffesional musicians, then you also get local singers/players turning up.It is mainly string instruments, I have never seen anybody playing bagpipes there yet but I am sure that you & your pipes will be very welcome.Music is mainly english and irish folk, it is very informal, whoever wants to sing/play can do, and best of all is anyone performing gets FREE drinks! I go in there when I can, but sometimes have to work sundays (I am a delivery driver at the take-away nearby). |
