How's this for a prediction?

Subject: Heresay. Does anyone know the truth?

There is frenetic activity occuring in Norfolk, VA. at the USA's largest Naval Base, activity the like of which a resident who is close to my supervisor and who has lived there for years (and was there during the Gulf War) has *never* seen the like of. Helicopters and lights woke them from a sound sleep, and they live *across* the bay from the Naval Base. My supervisor said, according to high ranking GSA folk, that there is talk about a potential for more threat on the 14th and the 15th (today and tomorrow). The federal reserve bank in Baltimore, MD. shut down today, (presumably because it was one of 90 sites that are on a "hit list" for this whispered "next wave"). I personally heard on the radio that "there may be more attacks on the way". I read in the paper (Washington Times) myself just yesterday that the Governor of MD, Parris Glendening, said he had been privy to a list of hit sites prior to the 11th that included the WTC and the Pentagon, and also included Annapolis (the MD state Capital building, to be precise).

It's certainly not my intent to stir things up, or cause anyone any fear, but as I see it, forewarned is forearmed. People living in sensitive areas be mindful, and keep a lookout for anything suspicious.

I have no idea who has this "hit list" of 90 potential sites, but if anyone does, give us a heads up.

I have no information CS, and at this point in time I put no credence in any leaked information.

But, my gut feeling on Tuesday was that that was IT. I believe the terrorists achieved their objective to a degree they could never have imagined, albeit two of the planes failed to hit their original targets. They showed the West what they could do, and I cannot believe they will try to top that.

Remember, these attacks were not accompanied by any specific demands. If no demands are made, I will continue to believe that Tuesday's atrocities were a show of strength, and not the prelude to any long term terror campaign.

All of which should not deter us from the utmost vigilance, of course, and I hope to God I don't have to eat my words in the days to come.

During WW2 they used to say "Loose lips sink ships." I think if I knew about any military activity that hadn't been reported in the newspapers, I'd keep quiet about it.

We in the UK lived through this "vigilence" thing with IRA threats. At that time I preached the "carry a camera" notion.
If you are suspicious - snap it. It don't cost much especially the cardboard ones and if you have a motor accident it pays to take photos of the road lay-out and skid marks - unless you have reason not to.
If enough people carried a "I'm fighting back symbol" terrorists would have far less places to hide.
You might find petty crime diminish also.
Hey the proof - speed cameras certainly work.

There are troop movements going on all over the country, not just on the east coast. Reservists began to be called up last Wednesday--the vote yesterday by Congress was merely the "official stamp of approval" on what is already going on.

On Tuesday, when Air Force One was landing at SAC in Omaha, the ABC reporter on the plane said they were somewhat shocked to see local TV trucks already lined up along the highway, waiting to get footage of Air Force One landing. That isn't because they knew it would come there, they just knew there was a good chance that it would because there are only a handful of so-called "secure" bunkers the President, Joint Chiefs, etc. can go to in the US. The people who live in those areas know what's up before anyone else. The airplanes scramble (ie, all take off at once) and other signs of the security alert level being amped up shows immediately to people who live in the area. But it ALWAYS happens at times like this, so I wouldn't be alarmed by the fact that all this movement is taking place at all. It is Standard Operating Procedure for the higher security alerts.

Just because network journalists don't know jack about what is happening at the military bases, doesn't mean those of us who live near them don't know something is happening, even if we don't know what exactly it is.

What IS stupid and dangerous is to engage in rumor mongering like the "90 targets" sort of thing above. Nothing to do with loose lips (which is Standard Operating Procedure in today's government and military circles), just common sense.
