Well it's not really a lyric request but does anyone know where to get hold of a piano accompanyment to the above song. I can't believe I'm using Mudcat for work again! This time it's for the Annual Choral Competition at our school which involves each House doing a solo, part song and a Unison number. One lot wanted to do Lola but they've been told they can't use amps or guitars drums etc they have to have a piano accompany them so its fair to all participants... Oh dear.... so HELP!

Hi, Sarah - There's a Kinks Lyrics Site here, and a Lola MIDI here. Do you have a way to convert the MIDI to sheet music?

Don't have midi facilities here unfortunately. What I need is the piano music. Chords aren't enough apparently! We have lyrics & chords. Any suggestions????

Thanks

Aren't there any music teachers at your school???

I don't play the piano, and have very rudimentary Music Theory knowledge.

But even I could come up with a rough arrangement based on bashing out chords with the left hand, and playing the melody with the right.

I'm amazed that no-one at your school could do that...

I don't know where you are, but you could buy it from this page for £2.95 if you're in the UK

StF--

You don't need MIDI facilities, you need Noteworthy Composer to READ the MIDI and turn it into a score, to print. See www.noteworthysoftware.com. Free or cheap.

My printer is down or I would offer to convert it, print it, scan it, and e-mail it.

Joe Offer, or anyone else?

I have the above mentioned midi file reduced to a piano score in NoteWorthy. If, as Susan suggests, you could download even the trial version of NoteWorthy I could send you the NWC file as an email attachment. Let me know.

Seems like this should be a good opportunity for Iaan and me to learn how to save a Noteworthy file as a graphics file, but I can't find it in the Noteworthy instructions. Can somebody instruct us?

Joe, under Page Setup, if you choose the Preview option, each page of the print file can be saved as a Windows Metafile. I now can offer Sarah the file as a Word document if she can use that format.

Being more specific, as each page of the Print Preview is displayed, you click on the 'Copy' button at the top of the page, then a save dialog comes up. I saved the pages as 'Placeable Metafiles.'

I figured that out, too, Ivan. Probably about the same time you did - but I haven't come up with a suitable piano arrangement. I tried deleting and combining tracks, but wasn't having much luck - and my results were about 15 pages long. If you have something that might work for her, please send her a personal message. Thanks.

Joe, I have PM'd Sarah. I used just two of the staves, cutting and pasting some 'fill-in' for interludes on the melody staff. Mine came out at just over 4 pages (the fifth has about 3 measures on it).

You boys are so clever!!! - awaiting the results eagerly from Ivan. Am I going to get some Brownie points for this! I'll try and look at the noteworthy file today.

Thanks so much

Sarah
