Mrs Flaj and I are shortly to set off for a fortnight in Spain where we'll be having a few days in Barcelona, a few in Jaca in the Pyrenees and a few more possibly around Valencia. Have any catters been to these places, who can offer advice on things to see and do? Are there any known music sessions in these areas? Are there any catters living in Spain?

Hi. Why the hell are you going to Jaca? :-) Must have a gig... Well, while you are in Catalonia (a nation invaded by the French and Spaniards 300 years ago):

Barcelona: go the La Sagrada Familia, El Parc Güell, Les Rambles. There is a service called "Bus Turístic", which leaves from La Plaça de Catalunya and does a good cricular tour for not much money. You can get hop off, walk around, explore, etc., then get back on later.

The rest of Catalonia: (look these up) Montserrat Besalú La Garrotxa Tossa de Mar (Costa Brava) La Seu d'Urgell Tarragona

That's a good start. I live in Sant Cugat del Vallès, near BCN.

-Heather P.S. We speak Catalan in Catalonia, and it is more important than Spanish here to most people; Spanish has been imposed for many years, but if you really wanna make an impression, just learn to say a couple of things in Catalan, and at least know what it IS before you get here. There are plenty of websites. Apa! Que vagi molt bé!! hhayes@inicia.es

Thanks Heather, Should I have asked for Catalonian Mudcatters?

No, not a gig, we like walking and understand there's lots of it around Jaca. Do you have any info on the place? We plan to hire a car and drive up to 30 miles in any direction to set off walking from, but can't find out if there are car hire firms there and if there are if anyone can translate Catalan/English re: the relevant forms. We tried to find accomodation in Zaragoza on the way there but everywhere was booked up for a festival! The other thing we hope to do is look at properties for sale between BCN and Valencia - any pointers?
