Subject: Sugar in the morning From: GUEST,SAEBAA@aol.com Date: 03 Oct 01 - 04:40 PM Thank You Thank You Thank You!!! I certainly have enjoyed your site. Probably made me smile more than any surfed. Great work, and I enjoyed it tremendously. I named my little dog Sugar. The other day, that old tune came back that my Grandma used to hum. "Sugar in the morning, Sugar in the evening, Sugar at Suppertime, Give me....." can't remember the rest. If you know it, I would certainly be appreciative if you could help me. God bless you and yours, Sincerely, SAEBAA@aol.com |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Sugar in the morning From: Joe Offer Date: 03 Oct 01 - 05:02 PM I thought this one was well-known, so I was surprised I couldn't find it in any of the fakebooks I know of. "Who Wrote That Song" says that "Sugartime" was published in 1958, words and music by Charlie Phillips and Odis Echols. The song was introduced on a recording by Phillips, and the McGuire Sisters charted #1 with their 1958 recording. -Joe Offer- |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Sugar in the morning From: Amos Date: 06 Oct 01 - 11:38 AM This song brings back memories -- I remember hearing it on the AM radio in the kitchen as a lad and thinking it epitomized the saccharine unreality of the pop scene. That and Bing singing "Love Forever True". I think this was just about the time Elvis Presley emerged and put the world on its ear, musically speaking. Compared to this over-refined stuff he sounded like some kind of alien. But because he seemed to throw real passion into his act, it appealed very strongly to the alienated. A |
