I have to stand in my friend Maries' house, otherwise it tilts and pours water all over the floor and into the TV below.

The TV is called Trevor and doesn't like having toilet water (used) poured over her head. It ruins her hair.

I hesitate to add to this thread of lavatorial humour, but feel bound to mention that, having recently done a press interview with the British Toilet Association and the World Toilet Organisation, now consider myself an expert.

This, I swear, is absolutely true: the Singapore Toilet Association has just held a competition for the most popular name for the toilet. The first prize was to be, honestly, "a pair of designer restroom ear-rings".

As I wrote the story, I realised the contest would be won by a man. Because the conditions clearly stated: 'the winner stands to win the prize...'
