For anyone unterested in what music the folk played, I heartily recommend Rounder's new CD Ozark Folksong. It's culled from the extensive field recording collection of the late Vance Randolphm and has 35 tracks of all sorts of song. Randolph was a collector who believed in collecting what the folks were singing, rather than what he thought the folks should be singing--this CD reflects his attitude.
