Hi all! New to Mudcat cafe (though confess to having followed a few threads before joining). Looks like a fun chat and really good people with same interests.

Lucy is my dachshund - thus, Lucy's Mom. Sing and play (guitar, mandolin, dobro) lots of different types of music -- mostly folk/old time/bluegrass.

Looking forward to long relationship with Mudcatters.

My little dog Bob, heritage uncertain, says "Heh-ro-ro-ro..." It sounds better when he says it -- my accent is funny. My cat just looks nonplussed.

People are mostly nuts here, but occasionally someone starts making sense. We get 'em to snap out of it pretty quick though.

Hey there, Lucy's Mom!! Yee-haw! Another mandolin player in the Mudfam -- fantastic! And with a Mudpuppy that's a dachshund -- I was owned by one for 17 years, ya know, who went by the name of Schnitzel. He was a long-haired dachshund, brown and black, with a personality that just wouldn't quit.

"Howdy-hi!" to Lucy's Mom. Don't forget that in this particular labyrinth one should always trail a thread behind oneself to find your way back out. But if you don't, then luckily - the MudCat Tavern is just through *that* door - and you can always get home by unplugging the computer - if you have the willpower.

The first thread at the top of the forum is a hefty read - but has lots of information and links to even more.

Like just about any public gathering spot we tend to go through cycles where there is more or less of one thing or another - but then things swing back. or in a different direction. and there's always the music.

You bet! In fact, hubby and I guest-ed with a local band at the recent AFBA pig roast.

We always do the June Wind Gap; usually at New York festivals when Wind Gap August comes around.

Maybe we've met -- the three dachsies are always with me (though at Wind Gap we're not allowed to walk them) -- but they go to about 25 festivals a year and with us when we go to Florida for the winter (just the worst 3 months: Jan - Mar).

I was born and raised in Upper Darby, PA -- Southeastern PA. Lots of fond memories.

Now we live on a mountaintop -- can see down the valley to the next town (14 miles away). If there's no cloud cover over the valley. Fun to watch the thunder and lightning storms run the valley from the patio -- where we may only have a drop or two of rain.

Nice to hear from someone from my homeplace.

I'm a recent newbie myself, glad to know there's anyone newer. My husband grew up in Pittsburgh, and most recently lived for 10 years in Morgantown WVA. I don't play anything, I'm strictly a groupie. I sing in the shower and the car. My (late) grandfather, brother and son are the family folksingers and musicians. Welcome aboard.

Welcome, Lucy's Mom! You're not so far from Mudcat Central, otherwise known as West Chester, PA. It's the home of Max and all the computers, which now make their home IN Max's home--his dining room, to be exact--having made the move from Max's (former) office.

Keep your eyes peeled for threads announcing gatherings at Susan's or annamill's, Old Songs Festival, The DC Getaway, etc. You are probably in the range of Godfrey Daniel's, which I might get to if I was VERY motivated. I don't know if Bucks County Folksong Society is in or out of your range.

Welcome Lucy's Mom, Hello from the 'Burgh! Play mando myself w/various people here. You've been to the Mandolin Cafe, yes? If not go...there's a ton of good info and links. A dream of mine is to have a Cardigan Corgi(related to Doxies)at some point in the near future. Or should I say it'll have me! People on this site range from functional to clinical, but are 'always' helpful. Enjoy!
