Veteran of the British music industry for nearly 40 years Jonathan King has been sentenced to 7 years in jail at the Old Bailey on six charges of sexual assault. The offences are said to have taken place between 1982 and 1987. King who is age 56 is a familiar figure to the pop industry and had such hits as "Una Paloma Blanca" and "Everyone's Gone to the Moon."

Worse that that - it was sexual assault against children

Personally very glad that the bugger's locked up - though I am biased as I never could stand his smarmy ways, or indeed anything he ever did

He has apparently pre-recorded a message on his website saying that it's all 'their word against his'.

I suppose it could be argued to be coincidental or 'circumstantial' .... but in the 1970s he was active in the promotion of a teenybop band whose manager was later jailed for exactly the same offence.

Good, lets hope he rots in jail - one less pervert for us to worry about. He should have got seven years for each of those five poor boys he abused. I've got two children, and this world can be a very worrying place to bring them up in. I'm sure others feel the same. Maxine

If you are in the UK, you can probably remember last summer when a Paediatrician was forced out of his home by an angry mob?

Well, if it had to be someone, Jonathan King is not a bad choice. Not someone I'll greatly miss.

But I haven't been following this, and I don't plan to.

Frankly, he should have been locked up years ago precisely BECAUSE of Una Paloma Blanca and so on....

Although it's good that 'celebrities' like JK, Gary Glitter and Jeffrey Archer are getting prison terms for cirmes, because it reinforces the tenent of the law that no-one is above it.
