Yea, she is a damn fine kid, if she would just get over being an adolescent female..........we had a blast together that night, though. She was sorry she hadn't gone to Cheyenne. About the pic--she said "MOM--WHY did you take a picture of me singing???"......I said, "Cuz." She and Tiffany were so thrilled to be in a REAL pub listening to REAL music.......with the grownups.

Yup, the kids were great. It was good to have them along.
Oh, and I WAS sitting on a fork. Just gotta sell 300 more CDs and I'll be able to get that damned tooth fixed.

Sorcha, Bert (and extended family), Kate, Joe, Rex - that was a fun night. Thanks for coming to the show, and for sticking around for the session afterwards. Boy, Kate has a set of pipes on her! The ould broad wasn't bad on the fiddle either! Bert's flag song was a treat, and Rex on mandolin & fiddle and Joe on the whistle were a pleasure to listen to. All the best, guys.

Seamus

Wasn't that a fine time? Thanks for the pics Sorch. While the pics don't show it, the place was packed. The pictures were taken after Seamus finished his last set. The regular public were on their way home and it was just the musical looneys left. But during the show, all the tables were full and folks were standing where they could fit in. There was a good turnout for Seamus.

I'm home for a while Sorkie love. I'll be flying back to Colorado on the 20th. Dec. Dunno how long I'll be there though.

Tree's Mom nearly peed herself when Seamus sang Old McDonald's deformed farm.

I should mention that it was also the first time that Sheabeen Pub had ever actually sold tickets to something......they didn't know how many to sell, how many they would sell, how many chairs/tables to set up, etc. I am pleased for the pub (as well as Seamus!) that it was a sell out crowd. I'm still chuckling over his "Danny Boy".......(a la Blind Lemon, Elvis, rap etc.)

That's a pretty good testament for that pub. I have drained the odd jar there each time I come to Denver. And a great layout to watch a performer. Is the stage area still to the left as your are walking in? As I recall there is not a bad seat in the house.

Mick

Well, I think so Mick. First time I've ever been there. Front door, narrow aisle down the wall. Bar on the left in the center of the room. Hard left at front door takes you to serving area, and stage on the far left wall.....not a real big place but I'll bet there were more people in there that night than the Fire Marshall would have approved of........

Actually I thought that the pub itself was pretty poor.

They didn't serve food, and the arrangement they had with the biker bar next door was pitiful.
They wouldn't let us move a table so that we could all sit together.
They wouldn't let us save a chair for a family member who was arriving later even though we had paid for the ticket, and were quite rude about it.
They had no napkins or condiments on the tables for those who had ordered food from next door.
If it hadn't been for Seamus and the Mudcatters we wouldn't have stayed.

We certainly won't be going back. We'll catch Seamus at another venue.

Shit, Bert. It certainly has changed a bit. I haven't been there in about 5 years. I wonder if it has changed owners? It was a very friendly place when I was there last. But as I say, it has been 5 years.

I hate to hear the Sheabeen run down. Yes, there are things that could be improved...I don't argue there. But, they've been very, very good to me and are the only pub in the Metro area that even bother to bring in the likes of the great Seamus, Alex Beaton and the Barleycorn.

Most of the staff there were nice, but when you pay in advance, cover charges for a party of seven, you expect a bloody chair at least. Or an apology and your money back for the seat that you don't get.

As Sorcha said it was the first time that they had sold tickets. I think someone there saw the extra money and got greedy.

I'm telling the family in Colorado Springs to ask the Irish pubs there, to hire our Seamus.

Mudcatters everywhere should do the same.
