Subject: RE: HTML Practice. Please ignore From: Noreen Date: 22 Jan 02 - 12:31 PM Capri Uni, you have to remember to 'turn off' the large font after use, and the colour, by putting /font in angle brackets at the end. Otherwise you'll get into all sorts of scrapes- and mess up mudcat thereads, more to the point. Good luck. Noreen |

Subject: RE: HTML Practice. Please ignore From: Homeless Date: 22 Jan 02 - 03:39 PM Did you know???? that you don't need to continually post to a thread to test HTML stuff? You can easily create an HTML file on your machine and see how things work there. Then, when you get things looking the way you want, copy them to a thread. To create your own HTML test file... assuming you are using a version of Windows 1. Open Notepad, usually found under Start\Programs\Accessories. 2. Copy the bold text below into that window. 3. Click File\Save As.. 4. in the dialog that comes up, for the File Name type "TestFile.html" (make a note of the folder it is saved to - I usually use the Desktop so it's easy to find). 4a. in the Save As Type list, choose "all files" You should now have a new HTML file called TestFile that you can expiriment with. Open it in Notepad to edit the HTML, double click it to see the results. When editing make sure you always leave the first two and last two lines. They are needed for the browser to realize this is a stand alone file. They DO NOT need copied into the thread, but are needed for local purposes. <html> <head> <title> html test file </title> </head> <body> insert the stuff you want to test here </body> </html> |

Please ignore From: Jon Freeman Date: 23 Jan 02 - 06:47 AM Guest, Mudguard has showed you how to but it looks like you were trying or may be familiar with the UBB codes which don't work here - it's good old HTML here. Have a look through the FAQ. There is some advice on HTML for the forum there. Jon |
