Subject: EuroGathering 2002 - the countdown From: mooman Date: 21 Jan 02 - 10:42 AM Dear Friends, The May Mudcat EuroGathering is now creeping up on us very quickly...some people already have their tickets booked! I thought, therefore, that it would be useful to devote part of my personal website to useful information, e.g. maps, hotels and B&Bs, transport, preliminary programme, etc. that people may need. I will add information to this as the event draws nearer. To view this information click on (and perhaps bookmark) the following link:
Mudcat EuroGathering 2002I will post up the latest details of attendees (confirmed and possibles) once I have finished my trawl through the previous thread! Looking forward to seeing everyone in May! Very best regards, mooman |

Raggytash This is already looking like we'll have great music and a great time. Could those who are still planning to come but haven't yet confirmed do so on this thread or by PM or e-mail to me. I've posted up a lot of useful information on part of our personal website which is accessible via the Big Blue Clicky in the first post to this thread. Please let me know of any other information you might require and I'll try to include it there. Best regards to all! mooman

Subject: RE: EuroGathering 2002 - the countdown From: Skipjack K8 Date: 24 Jan 02 - 08:30 AM I can't get the beastie open, Richard, for some unbeknownst reason. I couldn't find Bill's name until I realised I was attending him, which frankly worries me. I think he'll only want half the list, anyway. Skipjack |

Subject: RE: EuroGathering 2002 - the countdown From: alanww Date: 31 Jan 02 - 05:15 AM Refreeeeeeeeesh! Let's see some more Mudcatters confirming their attendance!! It sounds as if it will be an event to remember. Also, the air fare from the UK is very cheap at present but it may increase in price nearer the time, ie when the seats begin the sell (it is a bank holiday weekend in the UK). Subject: RE: EuroGathering 2002 - the countdown From: mooman Date: 01 Feb 02 - 05:01 AM For students of language and dialects I have posted up an additional page of "bruxelloise" or "Le Brusselaire" on my website for the EuroGathering 2002 (see big blue clicky in the first posting)! It is still spoken in parts of Brussels and is an interesting and rather irreverant mix of French, Flemish and bits of a couple of other languages. I was interested in scrolling down the list (and attempting a translation) that most of the words have to do with being drunk, drinking or being in a bar! For those who have yet to make a decision as to whether they are going to come to the EuroGathering, please let me know as soon as you have decided. Very best regards to all, mooman |

Subject: RE: EuroGathering 2002 - the countdown From: Eric the Viking Date: 05 Feb 02 - 02:17 PM Ello, ello-directions please-or advice thanks Richard. Sorry to hear you won't be at Stony. Ryan air fly into the smaller airports. We fly into Brussels S. Charleroi. What is the best/easiest/cheapest/quickest way of getting to Brussels and then your place please? Chers Eric |

Subject: RE: EuroGathering 2002 - the countdown From: mooman Date: 07 Feb 02 - 02:31 PM Dear Eric, There is a Ryanair bus that meets each and every Ryanair flight and takes you into central Brussels (can't remember the fare but its fairly cheap). It deposits you fairly conveniently and appropriately outside an Irish pub called "The Wild Geese"! I could easily collect you from there. The same arrangement works the other way round (I think you have to be at The Wild Geese 2 hours before your Ryanair flight). Otherwise, depending on the day and time of arrival of your flight and the number of you travelling togetherand amount of instruments/bags, I might be able to collect you at Brussels South Airport (Charleroi) myself. Perhaps you could let me know when you're arriving? Looking forward to seeing you all again. Sorry about Stony S, money is a slight issue at present and also I just got back from a meeting in Malaga (tough life being a scientist, eh!) tonight (Thursday) called at very short notice by the Spanish Presidency of the EU and to which I was invited at the last minute as some sort of expert on something or other (I wonder where they ever got that idea from but I'm not complaining as they paid for everything including the travel and hotel!). So it would have been a push travelling to Stony S anyway as it turns out. Very best regards, Richard |

Subject: RE: EuroGathering 2002 - the countdown From: mooman Date: 10 Feb 02 - 06:01 PM Dear Friends, Doing a quick refresh on this thread as arrangements are beginning to fall into place and I'll need particularly to know who is arriving when at this point. Some participants have already indicated arrival and departure times to me but, to arrange bookings at local brasseries, etc., I'd be grateful if those who haven't would let me know their plans as soon as they can. The list of confirmed or possible attendees looks like this at the moment from the messages people have sent me or posted to this or the previous thread: Confirmed or likely to attend
Bill\Sables Possibles/interest expressed
Raggytash Thanks very much in advance for your advice. Don't forget the link at the top of this thread for the EuroGathering website. I'll be adding further information to the site as plans mature! Best regards to everyone, mooman (Richard) |
