Subject: Oliver Stacy From: GUEST,wdyat24 Date: 07 Feb 02 - 10:18 PM Oliver Stacy moved to Newport, Wales from Bath, Maine approximately 1860-1870 and started a ships rigging company. His son Oliver stowed-away on a ship from Newport and sailed back to Bath to be with his grandmother Tryphosa Stacy of Pine Street, Bath, Maine. Are there any known decendents in the area? Any information from any source will be greatly appreciated. wdyat24 |

Subject: RE: BS: Oliver Stacy From: katlaughing Date: 08 Feb 02 - 04:57 AM Oh, wdy! One of my favourite topics...digging up ancestral info! There are folks over at this Forum at www.genealogy.com who are posting messages, which are current, on the Stacy family of Maine. You might want to read those and post some queries there. Also, I found the following info at www.ancestry.com where I am a subscriber: 1860 Census shows STACY, OLIVER W. State:ME Year:1860 County:Sagadahoc County Record Type:Federal Population Schedule Township:1 W. Bath Page:127 Database:ME 1860 Federal Census Index There are some other listings I found for Stacys that go way back to the 1600's; if you want me to post them or send a PM with them, I'd be happy to. Hope this gets you started. If you go to Jon Freeman's Annexe and go back a ways, you will find a discussion on good genealogy sites which also might be helpful. Good luck and have fun! kat |
