Can anyone please recommend a guitar store you trust in the Ashville, NC area that would be able to give an honest evaluation of a Martin guitar. My sister-in-law has one about 30 years old and wants to know what it may be worth and if it is in good playable condition. She knows very little about instruments and I don't want her to get ripped off. Thank you,Tom

If nobody else suggests anything, may I suggest you get in touch with David Holt who lives in Ashville and probably knows more about the guitar scene there than anybody else in the State.

Murray

Knappo, I can't remember the name of it offhand, but there is one on Highway 25 (Hendersonville highway out of Biltmore) that specializes in supplying bluegrassers with guitars, banjos and accessories. If there is any store in town that ought to know, that would be my guess.

I won't vouch or anything about them since I've never dealt with them, but maybe that will give you a start.

If you feel like driving the Hendersonville, there's a store on the main drag there where the owner and staff seem pretty knowledgable and helpful.

good luck,

david

There's always Mandolin Brothers in New York & Gruhen (sp?)Guitars in Nashville. Insurance companies will generally accept their evaluations.

Yeah, Jeepman. That's the one. I couldn't remember the name of it. I went in there looking for fingerpicks one time and the folks seemed friendly, but I haven't had reason to go back.

BTW —— I'm going to be in Black Mountain/Montreat the first two weeks in April. Anything going on that's interesting then? If you know of anything, drop me a PM.

cheers,

david
