Subject: OT - Great knot and sailing rope site From: Bo Vandenberg Date: 25 Feb 02 - 02:48 PM Found this and thought there might be some sailing types who'd appreciate the link. Even some shanty singers who'd like to fake the background :) http://www.neropes.com/default.asp check out the splicing instructions Sigurd

Subject: RE: OT - Great knot and sailing rope site From: SeanM Date: 25 Feb 02 - 03:10 PM Here's a clickable link for the site: I may have missed something, but this does appear to be mostly a commercial site selling line for use in many applications, including modern maritime. Very nice instructions on how to splice, though... M |

Subject: RE: OT - Great knot and sailing rope site From: catspaw49 Date: 25 Feb 02 - 04:52 PM I started sailing at 7 but I don't remember when I started using New England lineage. Must be at least 25 years or more........GREAT LINE!!! I alwyas found them to have a better product and better quality control than Yale and most others. When they were a young company you could get lots of freebies from them to promote their stuff......I never thought they needed it. When they got into the spectra/kevlar stuff they were way out in front! Spaw |

Bill D, Of course, the Ashley book is supreme (like Child's.) The novel, Shipping News in its first printing, returned me and several kindred friends to the wonders of knots and the guild, with its associations was formed.
