I am looking for the source to 2 Christian children's songs: Only a boy named David, only a little sling etc.Also song that goes O have you heard the tale of Jonah and the Whale; way down in the middle of the ocean. Does someone know who the authors of these songs are? Are they in the public domain? Does someone know a website to find out if Christian songs & hymns are in public domain?

Hi, Jean,

I have "Only a boy named David" in the booklet. It attributes it to Arthur Arnott, Salvationist Publishing & Supplies Ltd., London, 1931. The "Wee Sing" books & cassettes are widely available in book stores & children's shops. Hope it helps.

Only a boy called david is also in 'Children's praise' But I can't find t'other one yet but will keep looking.

Thanks for the help. I tried but could not manage to access the forum for a couple days. Here is how the Jonah and the whale songs starts. It wasn't quite right in the first post. Does someone have information on this?: O listen to my tale of Jonah and the whale way down in the middle of the ocean. O what did he do there? Whatever did he wear? Way down in the middle of the ocean. It is a song that the kids really like.--Jean

"Only a boy named David" is in a children's chorus book called Sing and Be Happy. not sure of the publisher, but i will post it when i find my book.
