THE CALL AND THE ANSWER

You called and I ran wild as the wind
Which blows across the moor
All we needed is each other
Like the eagle we will soar.

You and I we're like two rivers
Run and fall down to the sea
When we meet we're lost forever
Lost forever you and me

You are the call I am the answer
You are the wish and I am the way
You the music, I the dancer
You are the night and I am the day
. You are the night and I am the day.

Lay your head upon my shoulder
Let your heart beat close to mine
There's no past and no tomorrow
Two hearts lost in space and time.

I found this a couple of months ago on a C.D. by the Dubliners called 30 years-a-greying. I read in the last issue of 'LIVING TRADITION' That it was written by Phil Colclough of Song for Ireland fame. Although my wife and I have started singing this we haven't bothered to write down the tune as yet but if you are looking for it leave a message and we'll jot it down.
Regards Baz

Like you say the words are lovely and the tune's pretty good too, I'm not sure about the speed that this will play back at it seems to depend on what player you use but it shouldn't go to quick.

BAZ: Thanks so much for the ABC tune. I've downloaded the program, now all I have to do is figure out how it works . . . :-) Any hints as to how to enter this into the program so that it will play? Slan, Aine

Aine
Here goes ( I'm assuming that the programme you have is ABCWin).Although it should work with most.
You can do this either online or offline:
Highlight the abc file from X: down to and including % Output from ABC2Win Version 2.1 f on 27/03/98.
Copy this and paste it into Notepad and save it as CALL.ABC the important part is the .ABC
Look at the file in Notepad and if there are spaces before the: X:
T:
M:
L:
Q:
K:
then delete them(the spaces) then save. My copy won't work with these spaces. You should then be able to open this file in ABCWin and away you go.
I hope this is of help, if not leave a message or post a link saying something like 'Help with abc req' somebody like J.Offer or Jon W. are bound to be able to help with better explanations.

I've heard Antoinette McKenna and Mary Bergin sing this a couple times. Does anyone know if they've recorded it?

Hi I'm a member of an acapella choir - we have the lyrics to The Call and the Answer and are seeking the music. Can't seem to find it anywhere. We do not have access to any versions of ABC2win. Would appreciate any suggestions as to how we could obtain it otherwise.

Regards

Melanie

Copy the abc notation given above, and paste it into the "ABC Convert-A-Matic" box which you will find at Concertina.net, remembering to remove the blank spaces which will appear at the beginning of some lines as decribed above. The onsite routine there will produce staff notation which you can save and print.
